Manchester United have postponed their friendly against Preston North End on Saturday due to a small number of suspected coronavirus cases in the squad.

United on Thursday announced that the unnamed players are isolating pending further tests.

A statement on the club s official website said: Following routine testing of the first-team training group today, we have identified a small number of suspected positive cases.

This has led to those people isolating, pending further tests.

As a precautionary measure based on COVID protocols, we have taken the difficult decision that we will not now be able to play the friendly match against Preston North End this Saturday.

Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua have parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores, the coach citing personal reasons for his exit.

Former Atletico Madrid, Watford and Espanyol boss Flores leaves with the club 14th in the table, a point above the relegation zone.

A club statement said Flores resignation had been accepted and praised the coach for giving young players a chance to impress despite poor results.

Since taking office in December 2018, Mr Flores and his team have worked diligently and conscientiously, the club said in a statement.

Sevilla right-back Diogo Figueiras will spend the upcoming season on loan at Serie A club Genoa.

The 24-year-old has featured regularly for the UEFA Europa League winners since making the move from Pacos de Ferreira in 2013.

Yet to be capped by Portugal, Figueiras will move to Genoa on loan for the 2015-16 campaign, with the Italian club having an option to make the deal permanent.

Figueiras joins a side that finished sixth in the league last term, but were denied a UEFA licence to feature in the Europa League.

Auckland City have withdrawn from the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.

The New Zealand club had been nominated as the Oceania Football Confederation s (OFC) representative for the tournament in Qatar, which is scheduled to begin on February 1.

However, the quarantine measures in place in New Zealand in relation to the coronavirus pandemic have led Auckland to pull out.

They had been set to face Al-Duhail in the opening game but that contest will now not take place.
